Coming up June 8th in Lubbock, Texas, newly crowned PFC 145 champion Chance Beck will face a gritty challenger in former LFA veteran Luis Luna in the main event of PFC 37. Back in March of this year former UFC and Bellator Vet Cody Pfister returned from retirement at PFC 34 to fight for the PFC Featherweight championship. His return was ruined and wrecked by a hurricane straight out of Kentucky, named Chance Beck, who snatched up the PFC Featherweight strap with a flawless performance that saw him put away Cody at 2:32 into Round 1 Via Arm bar. Chance moved to 10-7 as a pro and more importantly, stays perfect at Featherweight. That moved his record at the weight class to 9-0, once again proving that most if not all of his professional losses are a result of fighting above his natural weight class. I reached out to Chance and asked him if his previous title-winning performance went how he pictured it and if not how was it different than he expected. His response gives me a pretty good idea that he was expecting more of a war last time out.
Chance Beck: “I didnโt actually, there was a lot of build up to that fight from his side about how he was coming to knock me out. I shipped out to Michigan for that camp, well for part of it to prepare for a war. But, everyone has a plan til they get punched in the face they say. Once I touched him he went back to his roots and shot, secured a double leg after he had me biting on countering him and I loaded up for a hard shot and he lowered his level and got the takedown. I knew my jiujitsu was better than his, I immediately secured and armbar that he defended properly. Although he then left his self open for another attempt which secured me the win. Got the job done of course, but I was looking forward to a banger, but it does take two to dance that dance, unfortunately he didnโt want to engage that way.”

Luis Luna is no stranger to the fight game as a veteran in the sport with an impressive 19-11 pro record- which includes multiple fights with current and former UFC, Bellator, and PFL fighters. He’s someone who’s been around the sport for a very long time having made his amateur debut back in 2007 in his home state of Texas where he will be looking to have a successful homecoming on June 8th. Luis, like Chance, is also coming off an impressive first-round submission in his last fight via Rear Naked Choke back in April of this year. While his activity and level of competition have not been the same as Chance’s as of late he’s someone with a lot of high-level experience who will certainly come in as the betting underdog looking to spoil the first title defence of newly crowned champ Chance. He will also almost certainly have the home-field advantage and look to redeem his last loss which came in Texas back in 2023.

Following up with Chance Beck about this upcoming fight I asked him what he knows about Luis as a fighter and how he views him as an opponent, he’s definitely not looking past the veteran of over 40 fights this is what he had to say.
Chance Beck:”Heโs a veteran of over 40 fights spanning across mma kickboxing and boxing. Very great shape and strong as well as durable. As far as an opponent, I donโt look past him because at this level everyone is dangerous on their best night. I have however spent a month of my fight camp back in Michigan where for the last fight I only spent 2 weeks. Iโm dialed in sharper than ever, I really feel like I have honestly turned my life of skills into a very formidable style for him to secure the victory. I am also once again going into my opponents backyard to fight, where I believe I excel as the pressure falls on them to perform for their hometown. I think that adds a level of pressure to most men that they canโt rise too when facing a fighter like myself when I am in the kind of shape I am right now.”

As far as an official prediction from Chance I was able to get this amazing quote from him and all I can say is DONT BLINK come June 8th ladies and gentlemen
Chance Beck:”The game plan is simple, find the finish. Iโm 100% finish rate in all my wins from ammy to pro. 50/50 KO/tko to submission. Heโs tough I could see him weathering the storm at first. But my prediction is I will find his chin and I will finish him with strikes before the end of the third round. Itโs a 5 round fight, but we donโt get paid by the hour. Just donโt blink if he decides to stay on the feet and exchange with me at any point.”
My official Prediction:Luis is a very tough competitor and I see him coming a little more prepared and ready for what Chance has to offer than Cody was last time out. With that said, I don’t think it will be enough. While Luis is a veteran of more fights he has not had the same level of competition recently that Chance has had. He has been knocked out a few times over the last couple of years. Chance is going to test that chin early and often.ย I just don’t see him lasting too long, and I think in Round 2 Chance starts to find big shots, which will have Luis resort to shooting for takedowns way out of place. In turn, that will lead to him being knocked out sometime in round 2 whether it is a clean KO or by vicious ground and pound. Either way, it will result in your winner and STILL PFC Featherweight Champion Chance Beck.
