On Saturday, June 8th down in Lubbock, Texas the reigning defending Peak Fighting featherweight champion Chance Beck had a comeback for the ages to spoil the hometown hype of Luis Luna. He looked like he was well on his way to becoming the NEW featherweight champion. As the fight went into the fourth round most people had Luis up by at least two if not all three rounds. He showed up well-prepared and with a very obvious game plan to dethrone the champion by keeping the pressure and top control heavy on the typically elusive Chance. The champion was having trouble finding the same type of success that got him an early KO/TKO in his title-winning effort back at PFC 34 vs Cody Pfister, and it looked like his first title defense might be spoiled by the former LFA veteran Luis Luna.

Anyone who knows Chance as a person and as a fighter knows he had a shot until the final bell! When the fourth round started he came out blazing by immediately putting the pressure on Luis and getting right in his face before landing what can only be described as a perfect sequence. We saw him throw a 1-2-1 combination into a beautiful left high kick that hurt Luis badly and put him down to the canvas. He did his best to try and recover but Chance gave him no opportunity to get back into it as the vicious ground and pound sealed the deal at twenty seconds into round four with your winner by KO/TKO and STILL PFC Featherweight champion Chance Beck! I was able to reach out to Chance for a few questions about his previous title-winning performance and what the future might hold next for the champ! Enjoy our full conversation below!

I was able to ask Chance about what went differently in his previous title fight vs Luis and what was different about his competitor’s style, skills, and game plan than what he might have expected going into it.
“I think he trained a lot harder for this fight since it was his first time fighting at home in 13 years. He also had a few things he obviously worked specifically for me, which I hadn’t seen in any of his previous fights. I think I got the best Luis Luna possible that night, and it was definitely a real test for me.”

Following up to that response I asked Chance what the gameplan was going into the fourth round being down in the contest and on the verge of losing his championship, his response shows you the kind of fighter he is and the type of team he has around him!
” Well my corner told me I was behind and needed to basically find a finish. So I agreed, bit down on my mouth piece and started throwing harder. That finish was a 1,2,1 left high kick that clipped the chin to sit him down and I followed up with some strikes to get the stoppage. Harry and I actually prepped that backstage as our last combo on pads before I walked out to the cage.”
Lastly I was able to ask Chance about what’s next for him and what we can expect for his next fight! He kept the answer short and sweet so I’ll let your imaginations run wild with possibilities!
“And as far as my next fight, it will be a PFC title defense, October 19th in Amarillo, against my toughest test yet. I can leak the exact details yet, but this is a BIG fight!”
There you have it ladies and gentlemen we can’t wait to see who they got for the champ next time out! Stay tuned for more updates on what’s next for Chance on all his Social media pages!
