Just when we didn’t think SICP 5 could be outdone anytime soon the amazing team over at Southern Indiana Combat Production did it again, and arguably better, at SICP 6:Fall Brawl.
It was once again one of the best regional shows put on in the Midwest the past few years, hell maybe ever. There were Thirteen MMA bouts broken down into eight Amateur bouts and five Professional bouts. One amateur champion was crowned in a vacant title fight, plus one new professional champion was crowned in the title fight main event. The total cage time was broken down into Fifty-one minutes and one second for an action-packed night of fights the city of Evansville won’t soon forget.
A lot is in the works for the teams over at SICP, BWSports1, and here at Global Combat News. I will drop all the news regarding all that and the next event when available! Without further ado here is your full SICP 6:Fall Brawl Review! 👇🏻
Opening Bout Amateur Featherweight(145)

The opening bout at SICP 6 did not disappoint, as nice guy product Stacy Winters made his successful amateur debut against Jacob Howard. Stacy used his superior speed and agility to gradually pick Jacob apart on the feet before landing a beautiful Superman punch for the knockout while Jacob was backed up against the cage in the second round! Stacy moves to 1-0 as an amateur, and we look forward to seeing what’s next for him in his mixed martial arts journey!

Second Bout Amateur Featherweight(145)

Just because this was the lone fight on the card to go the distance doesn’t mean it wasn’t an exciting one! Max had a game plan to test Serpa’s striking early and often, and he had some big moments throughout the fight, catching Serpa with a variety of powerful strikes. Franco, to his credit, had his moments but just not enough, as he couldn’t keep the fight on the ground where he wanted it. This resulted in a clear-cut unanimous decision win for Max Peters, who moved to 3-0 as an amateur.

Third Bout Amateur Welterweight(170)

In a battle of two young men making their amateur debuts against each other, we saw Kolson separate himself with the work he put in on the ground. Austin comes from a solid high school wrestling background, but it just wasn’t enough to outdo Kolson’s great BJJ work, as he wrapped up an arm triangle choke towards the end of the first round to win his successful amateur debut.

Fourth Bout Amateur Middleweight(185)

A late notice bout I helped put together actually saw two very talented amateurs step inside the Sicp cage! Ryan was looking to get back in the win column and snap Shawn’s momentum, and that’s exactly what he did. Shawn went for a questionable takedown early and ended up being reversed on the mat. Ryan found himself on top, reigning down some very powerful ground and pound. Before Shawn could recover, he was overwhelmed and hurt, prompting the referee to step in and wave off the bout early in Round 1. This marked a very successful Sicp debut for Ryan, who improved to 3-4 as an amateur! I look forward to seeing what’s next for both of these men; Ryan aims to move up in weight to Light Heavyweight, while Shawn looks to drop down to at least Welterweight, maybe even Lightweight.

Fifth Bout Amateur Catchweight(130)

In a show-stealing performance, we witnessed an early nominee for Amateur Knockout of the Year by the mongoose! Jose looked to wrap up a triangle from the bottom very early in the first round, and before he could cinch that in, he was elevated and slammed for what looked like a Rampage Jackson-style KO! First of all, we would like to say that we are very happy Jose was okay and seems to be in good spirits since that night! That said, Jay improved to 3-3 as an amateur, winning his second straight bout in the Sicp cage. Rumors are swirling that a title shot is in the works for his next bout, but if that’s true, the question remains: will it be at 125 or 135?
KO/TKO, Slam 0:29 Round 1 of 3
Sixth Bout Amateur Catchweight(165)

We had a matchup of experienced amateurs in this one, and they did not disappoint. Will came out very strong, even catching Nick and hurting him in the first round. After a strong first frame for Will, Nick started to take control and mix it up more in the second round. His top pressure was too much, as he ended up catching Will in a rear-naked choke during a transition on the ground late in the second round! Fox improves to 6-3 as an amateur, and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he’s fighting for a title at the next event!

Seventh Bout Amateur Lightweight(155)

A battle for the SICP BMF Chain saw two very talented amateurs put it all on the line! Jacob came out strong in the first round, securing an early takedown and banking some impressive ground control time. However, with someone as dangerous as George on the ground, all it takes is one mistake. With only a few moments left in the first round, George snuck in a very quick armbar submission from the bottom, and Jacob had no choice but to tap with a fully extended arm locked in! George Reed picks up an impressive win for his second straight in the SICP cage, pushing his amateur record to an impressive 5-1. Who knows, we could very well be looking at the next SICP Amateur Lightweight champion!

Eighth Bout Amateur SICP Bantamweight Championship

First of all, I’d like to say massive respect for these two men. Bryce took the fight on short notice against someone completely different style-wise, and of course, massive respect for David. He not only took a short notice title fight the day before the fights but also took it down a weight class from the one he was originally scheduled to fight at on this card! When it came down to the fight, Bryce had the advantage in experience and made it clear he also had the advantage with his grappling ability. He secured takedown after takedown and controlled David with his top pressure. David landed a few big shots on the feet in-between all the grappling, but it just wasn’t enough to keep Bryce off of him. That, as well as the weight cut and pressure, eventually were too much for David, and he succumbed to an Arm Triangle choke late in the third round as Bryce won the Vacant SICP Amateur Bantamweight Championship and improved to 7-5 as an amateur.

Ninth Bout Pro Catchweight(165)

Our first pro matchup of the night saw a very experienced kickboxer take on an up and coming MMA talent. Unfortunately for Blayze his kickboxing experience didn’t get to shine through as Kyle secured an early takedown, that ended up being the beginning of the end as he secured full mount and started raining down some big ground and pound before the ref stepped in to stop the fight in the first round proving his BJJ experience was just to much! Kyle picks up another impressive pro win and moves his record to 2-0!
KO/TKO, Strikes 1:57 Round 1 of 3
Tenth Bout Pro Lightweight(155)

Another pro matchup, and this one didn’t last long! Seth told me before and after the fight that he felt a certain level of disrespect being matched up with Phill, who was making his pro debut, despite having the most pro fights on the card. Seth clearly wanted to make a statement with this one, and that’s exactly what he did. He started landing big shots from the opening bell, hurting Phill almost instantly in the striking exchanges. Even though the ref might have been a little premature on the stoppage, I believe he saved Phill from going all the way out, as he was clearly hurt and rocked before the ref stepped in at about 14 seconds into the first round. Seth secures another big moment in the Sicp cage and notches his fifth pro win!
KO/TKO, Strikes 0:14 Round 1 of 3
Eleventh Bout Pro Middleweight(185)

A very intriguing matchup between bright pro prospects saw Sloan start off very strongly in the first round as he landed some big shots and busted Zayne up. To the ref’s credit this time, he didn’t stop the fight early, allowing Zayne to start getting back into the fight after a slow start. Midway through the second round, you could feel the momentum had swung in favor of the hometown kid as he applied pressure and secured some crucial ground control time. This proved to be too much for Sloan as Zayne started landing some nasty ground and pound elbows late in the second round before the ref jumped in to stop the fight. Zayne snatched Sloan’s “0” and bounced back in his second pro bout to move his pro record to 1-1. Can’t wait to see what’s next for both these talented fighters!

Co-Main Event Pro SICP Flyweight Championship

In what was probably the most highly anticipated matchup on the card, we had undefeated prospects Gage Mitchell at (3-0) entering the bout vs Josh Perreira (4-0) both impressive young fighters who we’re set to square off for a vacant Sicp Pro Championship at flyweight! These two did not disappoint, as we had a back-and-forth, action-packed fight that I had even going into the third round. In the third, we saw some crazy scrambles during grappling exchanges and at some point, Josh ended up securing a very deep triangle choke. Gage did his best to fight out of it but just couldn’t get away, succumbing to the submission, making Josh the new SICP Pro Flyweight Champion as he also improves to 5-0 as a pro!
Submission, Triangle Choke 3:38 Round 3 of 5, 13:38 Total
Main Event Pro SICP Welterweight Championship(170)

Our main event of the night saw defending Welterweight champion Zack Davis put his title on the line against his toughest opponent to date, ATT product Dustin Parrish. Davis had nothing but success in his three previous fights for SICP, but SICP 6 belonged to Parrish as he secured an early takedown in the first round and eventually took Zack’s back to secure a rear-naked choke early in the first round that was just too deep, too early! Zack knew the type of fight Dustin wanted it to be, but he just couldn’t keep him off. That said, a very impressive performance for the NEW pro SICP Welterweight champion, Dustin Parrish, who improved his pro record to 11-5-1.
