March 8th,2024, in downtown Evansville, we witnessed a rebirth as Caged Combat Productions, which was formally known as Southern Indiana Combat Productions, put on their seventh show but first under the new name! It was an incredible show from start to finish as we had eleven amateur fights, two of which were for titles, and one professional bout in our epic main event. We crowned one new champion in a vacant title fight and had one champion successfully defend his title; we had seven KO/TKOs, two submissions, and three decisions, which broke down into a full cage time of one hour and thirty-eight seconds. The hits keep rolling as we already have a set date for our next event! September 7th at the Old National Events Plaza CCP: 8 Heavy Hitters is going down! If you’re looking to be booked for the best upcoming MMA promotion in the Midwest get ahold of us because we are matching now! Without further ado here is your full CCP 7 Event Review below 👇🏻

(AM)=Amateur

Opening Bout(AM)Middleweight(185)

Austin Roberts(Debut) Vs Darius Lea(Debut)

A matchup to start the card that saw two young fighters make their amateur debuts in a pretty solid fight. Austin came out and established his striking distance early as he controlled the pace throughout the bout. Darius, to his credit, landed a few good shots, but it was mostly kicks that he didn’t set up; eventually, in the second round, Austin gained top control and didn’t let Darius get away as he landed some nice ground and pound to get the TKO stoppage pushing his amateur record to 1-0.

Austin Roberts Defeats Darius Lea Via KO/TKO(Strikes) at 1:07 of round 2.

Second Bout(Am) Flyweight(125)

Kabody Bryson(1-1) vs Zach Bone(1-0)

As soon as the opening bell sounded, Kabody screamed something across the cage to the extent “You’re going to DIE”, and his performance showed he was not playing around. He secured an early takedown less than a minute into the fight, and despite a resilient effort from Zach, once it was secured, he had no choice but to eventually tap to a straight arm bar as Kabody improved his amateur record to 2-1.

Kabody Bryson Defeats Zach Bone Via Submission(Arm Bar)at 2:04 of round 1.

Third Bout(Am)Lightweight(155)

Elijah Brown(debut)Vs Kaden Willoughby(Debut)

A very high-level matchup between two debut fighters did not disappoint; after an even first round that could have gone either way, Brown started to pick up the pace and put it together in round 2. He started mixing up the head and body shots very well, and his pace and pressure were just too much for Kaden to handle as Elijah pulled away with his striking and the threat of his collegiate wrestling background to win the last two rounds and secure a Unanimous decision to move to 1-0.

Elijah Brown Defeats Kaden Willoughby Via Unanimous Decision

Fourth Bout(AM) Lightweight(155)

Jason Carson(1-1) Vs Brendon Shuck(Debut)

Respect to Brendon Shuck for stepping up on short notice in his amateur debut to take on a very talented fighter in Jason. You really only need one word to describe this fight, and that is wrestling! Jason secured a takedown early in each round and pretty much dominated top control time to the bell, Brendon had a takedown in the second and threw up a decent triangle choke late in the third but it was too little too late as Jason was just too much to handle as he improved to 2-1 as an amateur.

Jason Carson Defeats Brendon Shuck Via Unanimous Decision

Fifth Bout(AM) Lightweight(155)

Nathan Ellis(Debut) Vs Rob King(Debut)

Another bout that saw two debut fighters put it all on the line saw a very good first round from Rob as he landed some very nice kicks to the body and controlled the pace for the most part. Nathan started to land some good shots in the second round and while starting to gas, plus the lack of experience Rob shot for a wide takedown midway through the round that was easily stuffed and reversed which ended up with Nathan on top working some nasty ground and pound before the ref stepped in the wave it off pushing Nate to 1-0 as an amateur.

Nathan Ellis Defeats Rob King Via KO/TKO(Strikes)at 1:42 of Round 2

Sixth Bout(AM) Heavyweight(265)

Jeremy Miramontez(2-0) Vs Jacob Wallace(Debut)

Only one phrase comes to mind when thinking about how this fight went down, and that’s “PRIDE NEVER DIES” These two big boys just started throwing down as soon as the opening bell sounded, they locked one arm together in what can only be described as my partner on the Broadcast, Josh Shockman Stated Takayama vs Frye and they started throwing BIG shots. It was only a matter of time in this one before we saw a stoppage, Jacob clearly started to fade quickly and Jeremy didn’t let him off the hook as he continued to land some big shots and opened up a cut above Jacob’s right eye that was enough for the doctor to step in and wave this one off due to TKO(Via Doctor stoppage) pushing Big worms amateur record to 3-0. I expect a CCP HW title shot for Jeremy very shortly!

Jeremy Miramontez Defeats Jacob Wallace Via KO/TKO(Doctor stoppage) at 1:51 of Round 1

Seventh Bout(AM)Welterweight(170)

Mitch Donahue(1-1) Vs Quinten Jones(1-0)

A matchup that saw Mitch trying to bounce back from a loss and Quinton competing in his first bout since pre-COVID saw a very dominating performance from Donahue as he secured a takedown very early in the first round and transitioned almost instantly to full mount. Quinten, to his credit, tried to get out of the position and defend himself, giving up his back in the process, but he was just overwhelmed by the stronger, younger, more experienced competitor and succumbed to ground and pound early in the first round, pushing Mitch’s record to 2-1.

Mitch Donahue Defeats Quinton Jones Via KO/TKO(strikes)at 1:29 of Round 1

Eighth Bout(AM)Flyweight(125)

Jay Curry(3-5) Vs Kyle Chammnes(1-0)

Ladies and gentlemen, let me make one thing very clear: if you are fighting Jay Curry and you decide to throw up a submission from the bottom, just consider it to be a very real possibility that you wake up on the canvas, not exactly sure what happened! For the second straight time inside the promotions cage, Jay won via a sub-30-second KO Slam that would make the likes of Rampage Jackson proud! Kyle tried to lock up a triangle from the bottom and was instantly elevated and slammed down out cold! We are glad to see Kyle is in good spirits, and we hope to see him back very soon, but this night belonged to the Mongoose as he improved his record to 4-5 and stays unbeaten inside the CCP cage.

Jay Curry Defeats Kyle Chammnes Via KO/TKO(Slam) at 0:32 seconds of round 1

Ninth Bout(AM) Women’s Welterweight(170)

Alura Barnes(2-0) Vs Lacey Blackburn(Debut)

What a privilege it was to help match, and bring these two bad ass women together for the FIRST female fight under the promotion on National women’s Day! These two did not disappoint. Lacy showed her grit, determination, chin and heart to even make it out of the first round after Alura put together some big combos and shots that would have dropped someone not as tough as Lacy, that said, it was one-way traffic from Alura, who looked absolutely dominant in her return to the cage she looked great on the feet from opening bell to the moment she dropped Lacy in the second round, she eventually locked up a sneaky Guillotine choke to push her amateur record to 3-0.

Alura Barnes Defeats Lacey Blackburn Via Submission(Guillotine Choke) at 1:20 of Round 2

Tenth bout(AM)CCP Bantamweight Championship(135)

(C)Bryce Crump(7-5) Vs Anthony Marlow(2-1)

Our first of two title fights on the night saw an extremely fast finish just nine seconds into the first round in what I believe is the fastest KO in the promotion’s history! Bryce Crump defended his title for the first time in dramatic fashion as Anthony locked him up from the bottom before he was quickly elevated and slammed down to the ground unconscious! Thankfully, Anthony was okay and is in good spirits since the bout; Sometimes it just is what it is. Bryce moved to 8-5 as an amateur, and I would imagine the pro jump isn’t far away with his ability, age and record! I’m sure CCP would love to be involved with that transition to the pro ranks.

Bryce Crump Defeats Anthony Marlow Via KO/TKO(Slam) at 0:09 seconds of the First Round

Co-Main Event(AM) Vacant CCP Lightweight Championship(155)

George Reed(5-1) Vs Omar Campbell(2-0)

A very high-level matchup between very bright prospects saw George Reed Claim the Vacant Lightweight strap in a hard-fought decision victory. I believe I scored it 49-46, sitting cage side as George controlled the space and pace. He landed a lot of good shots on the feet, including a couple of beautiful head kicks, one of which dropped Campbell and almost had him finished. To his credit, he recovered extremely well and made it an interesting fight. Omar was just never able to put together much offence, and looked like he had a hard time fighting George’s timing and distance. George becomes your NEW CCP Amateur lightweight champion and pushes his amateur record to an impressive 6-1.

George Reed Defeats Omar Campbell Via Unanimous Decision

Main Event Middleweight(185)

Zayne Havener(1-2) Vs Travis Foster(8-15)

Our lone Pro bout of the night went down in our Main event, and it did not disappoint! Two very talented fighters left it all inside the cage for a fight that Evansville won’t soon forget. Blood covered the cage floor and cage side tables like a Picasso painting by the end of a bout that saw Zayne Havener use his extreme gritty style to survive the early power from Foster, who came out guns blazing. Zayne was able to gain control in the second round and use his high-level grappling to open up a nasty cut with an elbow above Foster’s eye, and didn’t let up from there as he continued to land nasty ground and pound up until the ref stepped in to wave the bout off pushing Zayne’s pro record to 2-2, we look forward to see what’s next for these two amazing warriors!

Zayne Havener Defeats Travis Foster Via KO/TKO at 4:34 of Round 2.
